Day 9

So, I didn't post this weekend as I went out of town. So let's recap the events of the weekend....

Friday -

Came home from work and J and I did our "Couch to 5k" before I left to go down to OK. And I must say, I am really enjoying it! I never thought I would say that. I know that I am just starting. And I think if I was by myself it would be a different feeling for me. But J and I have committed to do it together. And I enjoy challenging myself to keep up with him and push myself further. Not only that, but we have the opportunity to talk about the events going on in our lives.

Afterwards I came home and packed to head down to Oklahoma. My cousin was getting married, and I took it as not only a chance to be at the wedding, but to see my family. From both sides.

Saturday -

Actually this starts the night before. When I got to my Aunt J's house, I put my stuff in my old room (I used to live with them for a very short time) and we started catching up. We talked about all sorts of things. And we just kept going. So much so, that when we finally headed to bed I saw that it was 3AM!

That morning I got up and went to meet my cousin Jess for lunch. I also had planned to not take long as I considered getting my nails did for the wedding. And to reward myself for being able to stay active for an entire week. But we ended up sitting in the booth and talking up until I had to leave for the wedding.

Wedding was beautiful, and so was my cousin. Of course she always looks so pretty. It was short and sweet. And now I have a new cousin-in-law to talk to at family gatherings.

Later that evening I visited their reception because there was said to be dancing. And if anyone knows me, they know I can't resist a chance to dance. So I danced for a bit. And the thing is....I had told myself that I was going to take a day to recover from my complete week of exercise. But I couldn't resist bustin' a move! Of course I felt it the next day. But can you blame me?

After the reception I went over to see my cousin Jess's new house and hang out for a bit with her and her boyfriend. I realized that the first time I met him was 2 years ago at my Mom's memorial. So it was nice to be able to get to know him in a more comfortable and happy environment. I also got the chance to meet one of her best friends, and instantly loved her. She is around my age and she just seemed like a kindred spirit (alla Anne of Green Gables). We played "Battle of the Sexes" which was hysterical, and basically just hung out. And once again I didn't realize what time it was when I headed home. 4:30AM! What is my deal? When I am home, I like going to bed around 10 as that is the time where I am just wiped from the day. But like I said, we had a really great time. And you can't rush that on time can you?

Sunday -

Headed back home a bit later than I had originally planned. But I still made it. Calves were a bit tense from sitting in the car, so I thought I would walk or something to stretch them out. Well it was frigid and gross out. So I opted for doing a Zumba workout on the Wii. Yes, I know that I could have just came home and been lazy. But I am really trying to stay active every day. The Zumba helped a bit. It helped more getting the endorphins out more than stretching out my sore legs. So I decided to take a Epsom salt bath to ease my muscles. My friend Deebs told me about an ice water bath. And I am pretty sure I will not be doing that while it is still cold outside. But I do enjoy my Epsom baths. I started doing them when I started doing Irish dancing about 4 or 5 years ago. And then I took it easy for the rest of the night.

Monday -

Had work as usual. And since we didn't run yesterday, we decided to do it today. And let me just say, I could have just stayed inside today instead. It was 27 degrees outside and bitter cold. But I was very proud that I made myself go out there and do it. Of course all of my extremities were cold, but eventually I warmed up a bit. And I actually think I did better today. And it took me a bit to get warm again when we got home. But I want you to know how I feel that I got out there and did it. I HATE the cold. Seriously, I do not like doing activities outside when it is cold outside. So the fact that the first thought I had when I got home was to change and go right back out there in the cold and run.

So that is my weekend in a nutshell. Let me put some pics here of me and J before our run on Friday. And of the wedding.
